East Central Community Center Food Bank

East Central Community Center, in partnership with 2nd Harvest and Northwest Harvest, is proud to be a food distribution site for those in need in the 99202 and 99212 zip codes.  We serve over 650 people monthly!

Hours:

MONDAY: 9:00am – 12:00pm 

TUESDAY: CLOSED

WEDNESDAY: 9:00am – 12:00pm

THURSDAY: 9:00am – 12:00pm 

FRIDAY: CLOSED

2nd & 4th SATURDAY: 10:00am-2:00pm

Participants may obtain food to 2 times a month.

New and existing participants must bring:

  • Picture ID for each adult
  • Proof of residence for each adult (a utility bill, bank statement, etc.)
  • Participants must also bring address verification for any children living in the household (medical ID cards for example)

We are always in need of wonderful volunteers to help serve our community.

Volunteers assist with customer check-in, making food boxes, restocking shelves, help unload trucks, and sort through donations.

Everyone needs a helping hand some time:

  • 37% of emergency food clients are children (18 years old and younger) and 13% are seniors (age 55 and older).
  • Single parents head 20% of households.
  • 56% of clients have lived in Spokane County for more than 10 years.
  • 57% of parents with children skip meals so their children can eat. 29% of those report this happens daily or weekly.
  • 70% of respondents said their emergency food box lasted one week or longer.
  • 64% of households receive food stamps. Of those, 26% receive less than $100 each month and 28% receive $100 to $199 each month.
  • 73%  of households report income below the federal poverty level and earn less than half of Spokane County’s median family income.
  • 21% of food bank clients are diabetic.
