An original incorporator of ECCO, Chris has worked actively in the East Central neighborhood since the late 1970’s.He is currently semi-retired and employed part-time as Senior Housing Developer at Community Frameworks, a non-profit affordable housing development organization, working in the development of both single family and multi-family affordable housing.  He has also been involved as owner or partner of in the startup and early development of three different private sector businesses and served on a variety of community non-profit Boards.  10 years on Board.

Vice President:  LaVerne Biel

LaVerne Biel is a long time neighborhood resident and small business owner.  Access Unified Networks is a communications technology company located in the neighborhood’s East University District.  LaVerne is past President of the East Spokane Business Association.  3 years on Board.

Secretary:  Eric Robison

Eric Robison has been the part time grant writer for ECCO and has served as the Executive Director of the Dishman Hills Conservancy.  He now serves as the manager of the Catholic Charities furniture store.  3 years on Board.

Treasurer:  Betsy Williams

Betsy Williams has been a commercial banker and now works in property management at the Richard Allen apartment complex in the East Central neighborhood.  Betsy also serves as President of ECCO’s subsidiary corporation ECCO Senior Housing Association which is the ownership corporation for the 24 unit Friendship Gardens affordable housing project.  Betsy is also an ordained minister working through Bethel AME church.  10 years on Board

Mary Verner

Mary Verner is an attorney and has served as Spokane City Council person and as  Mayor of Spokane.  She has held a number of posts with Northwest tribes and currently works in the office of the state Land Commissioner.  4 years on Board

Jenifer Pearson

Jenifer has been a long-time volunteer in youth recreation programs at the East Central Community Center where her children have been rec program participants.  She is employed by Avista in a training management position.  Joined board in March 2016
